Meet
Matt Schiller (left) and Kevin Jackson (right), the creators
of Skater Matt! The two creative geniuses were parented together
at Southern Adventist University in the fall of 2001. There
they collaborated on various projects such as “Employee
of the Month,” and “Samwhiches.”
During their studies of computer animation the two became
distraught and frustrated with how complicated the world of
Maya was. When the two had just about all the gimble-locking
and IK/FK/Schmef-K they could handle, they stumbled upon something
they had never mind-blasted before. They could animate the
camera and create the illusion that Skater Matt was moving.
As more characters came into play this technique was reversed
by dumping the rig completely and just animating the mesh!
Thus No Rig animation was born. |

It
was Spring of 2005 when the two were joined by a Romanian
rascal from Mexico (left). He to was upset over the troubles
of the technical world of Maya and sought a more simplistic
approach to computer animation. The three of them merged their
verts and quicker than you can layout the UV’s on a
NURBS surface Skater Matt translated and rotated into a legend. |
